As we got more involved in the exclusive home market, we were finding ourselves having to co-ordinate with steel fabricators more often. Architects and engineers were trying to create larger open spaces with large window walls or were wanting to create an ultra-modern style of home. Many steel fabricators will only build what is specified on the plans, without any knowledge of how materials were going to tie into the steel. Unfortunately this almost always became an issue because the steel was fabricated “per plan” and if something was wrong, who is going to pay for the repair? As we started working closer with the builder and the steel fabricator on these projects I was asked to verify or even supply the required heights, placement or connection type.
